Whiten ("we", "our", or "us") is designed to help you build and maintain consistent oral care habits. We respect your privacy and are committed to transparency about how your data is handled.
Information We Collect
We do not collect personal information such as your name, email, or contact details.
We only collect anonymized usage data through third-party services as described below.
Data Stored on Your Device
All of your personal data — including habit history, scores, streaks, preferences, and photos — is stored locally on your device.
We do not operate a backend server and do not have access to your personal data.
If you use the photo feature, images are captured and stored on your device only. Photos are never uploaded or transmitted to any server.
No Account Required
Whiten does not require you to create an account or provide personal information to use the app.
Information Sent to Third Parties
We use PostHog, a third-party analytics service, to understand how the app is used. PostHog receives:
- An anonymous, randomly generated identifier (not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID)
- Anonymized usage events (e.g., activity completed, screens viewed)
- Basic device information (such as device type, operating system version, screen size, timezone, and locale)
PostHog does not receive any data that directly identifies you. This may include anonymized onboarding responses such as how you discovered the app.
We also use Sentry for error monitoring. If the app crashes, Sentry may receive crash logs and basic device information to help us fix issues. Sentry does not receive your personal data, photos, or habit history.
As with any internet-connected service, PostHog and Sentry may receive your IP address as part of standard network communication. This is inherent to how internet requests work and is not stored or used by us to identify you.
Notifications
With your permission, Whiten sends local reminders to help you stay consistent with your routine. These notifications are scheduled on your device and are not sent through any external server.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal data with third parties. The only data that leaves your device is the anonymized analytics and error data described above.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is stored on your device for as long as the app is installed. To delete all your data, simply delete the app.
We do not retain any data after uninstallation because we never had access to it.
Children's Privacy
Whiten is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your Choices
You may:
- Disable notifications at any time through your device settings
- Revoke camera access at any time through your device settings
- Delete all data by uninstalling the app
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any changes.
